Been a top week for the South Australian film industry. With Rachel Ward's Beautiful Kate shooting in the Flinders Ranges, another movie has been unveiled in the Festival State.

Veteran producer David Lightfoot struck fear into the backpacking hearts of young travelers everywhere with Wolf Creek (also shot in SA). Just as that Outback serial killer nasty did for Australia's vast interior, Lightfoot's next film may do the same for SA (whose reputation is already shackled with some decidedly un-nice stuff).

Coffin Rock is a psychological thriller about a couple unable to conceive a child. In a drunken mistake, the woman sleeps with a young stranger who, wouldn’t you know, turns out to be psychotic. Caught in a brutal psychological and physical battle, the woman must fight to have the family she has always hoped for. Gasp!

The film, which begins principle photography in mid-July, is writer/director Rupert Glasson’s feature film debut, and stars Lisa Chappell (McLeod's Daughters), Robert Taylor (The Matrix, Vertical Limit, Rogue) and Sam Parsonson (The Pacific).

Bankrolled by the Film Finance Corporation of Australia, the South Australian Film Corporation as well as private investors, the $1.9million Coffin Rock feature promises a mess of terror, guilt, harassment and (of course) murder. We warned you.
