CareFlight Bare Bear Celebrity Ball 2005

On the 6th August 2005, Lisa Chappell hosted a table at the NRMA CareFlight Bare Bear Celebrity Ball. The Ball took place at the Menzies Hotel Sydney.

Details that we can share with you from the night are. Lisa's table raised an estimated $2500, which does not include the donation from our site, that donation total was $1365. Lisa's bear was auctioned off, with the highest bid being $500, which was actually the second highest bid over all for the bears. The wording across the front, was written on after the bear had been auctioned. Lisa wrote it on at the request of the winner. The winning bid was from a company, and their internal awards have the initials T.A.R.T.... and the bear will apparently be used as the prize for those awards. Overall the night was a great success and a lot of fun. Lisa was very touched by the generosity of her fans, and apparently the total amount raised by the site was announced on the night.

Lisa was also very touched by the work that CareFlight do. It is a very worth while charity, and they put so much work in, and yet most people wouldn't know they exist. A quick glance at their media release section will show you just how many times the CareFlight is called out to different things.

We would also like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful visitors and members for their support and generosity. It was very heart warming to see the response. Also a huge thank you to Yvette for all your help in getting this together.

Please take a look at their website to learn more about this wonderful charity that Lisa supports.

We were lucky enough to be given two exclusive pictures for our site, as a thank you for the donation we made. And in addition to that we were also given two of the official pictures from the night, to share on the site. Please do not copy these pictures, but you can view them here. popup window

Lisa Chappell supports - Red Cross Blood Service

Recently, the Red Cross put out an urgent call for blood. Levels of O type are at critical levels!! There are less than 24hrs worth of supply of some types of blood!

We have added an archived clip of Lisa during a segment she did on the Today Show last time the supplies hit critical levels... the clip is from August 2004 however the call is the same. We thought it might help some of you to see Lisa herself put out the plea.Right Click here and "save target as"  Footage Courtesy of the Today Show,Nine network.

Lisa Chappell continues to support the Red Cross in their call for blood donors... and is still a regular donor herself. Lisa donated blood again just last week, and she encourages you all to donate blood if you can, and support others if you are unable to donate blood yourself.

More information on blood donation can be found on the Red Cross site... Please Click Here to visit their site.

Of course this information is all based on Australian statistics, but blood donation is a concern in most countries, and we encourage you to check in your local area to see what you can do to help.

In January of 2004 we were contacted to help promote the Red Cross 1234 Campaign. We were given a faxed message from Lisa Chappell, to her fans. Below is a copy of that faxed message.

This is Lisa's message to her fans....

LISA CHAPPELL NEEDS FANS BLOOD

Happy New Year everyone. I hope 2004 finds you all well and happy.

Do you have room for another New Years Resolution? I hope so. One of mine is to become a regular Blood Donor and I'm hoping that you will join me.

Only 3% of the population are regular Blood donors and over 80%of us will need blood at some point in our lives. The discrepancy between these figures is just crazy, yet we expect the blood to be there when we need it.

SO LETS ALL GIVE BLOOD IN 2004! and make a positive contribution to our community. (I did today and I hate needles but it didn't hurt, I promise!)

Phone 13 14 95 and make it your number 1 resolution 2 give blood 3 times in 2004.

Love Lisa

P.S. Thanks for all your support, I have the best fans ever!

Lisa Chappell supports - Humour Foundation

In March of 2004 Lisa became an ambassador for the Humour Foundation, to help raise money for the Clown Doctors. Lisa strongly encourages her fans to help this worthwhile cause where they can. The Humour Foundation runs fundraising throughout the year, and on April 1st 2004 was their first National Smile Day, which became an annual event... leading up to this day you can purchase merchandise to help raise funds.

The Humour Foundation is a national charity established in 1997 to promote the health benefits of humour. Clown Doctors is the core project, and children are the focus. Clown Doctor programs are established in all major children’s hospitals around Australia and some general hospitals and hospices. Clowns have also visited east Timor and Afghanistan. LaughterWorks provides speakers and workshop presenters on humour and health to the health and welfare sector. International research has demonstrated the health benefits of humour.

Clown Doctors attend to the psycho-social needs of the hospitalised child. They parody the hospital routine to help children adapt to hospital. Clown Doctors distract children during painful or frightening procedures. They dispense doses of fun and laughter and help children forget for a moment that they are ill. Everyone benefits…patients, families and staff. Clown Doctors are highly skilled professionals and work in partnership with health professionals.
